About L'EAU |

Copenhagen September 2009 Last year my Manager Steven Machat asked me if I wanted to write some music you could relax, chill and do yoga to. I love to do yoga myself and can't even think about a day without meditation. I have always been very privat about this side of me, but I guess it were time to show my colours - so here we are. Growing up in a city by the coast - with a very busy harbour - my childhood related to that ambience. The smell of salt on a windy morning, the sound of foghorns, the storm blowing in from faraway cutting through whatever you wore, somehow always made me happy - I felt like I were a part of a bigger picture. So when I started recording, my first thought were to get that beautiful sound of water into all the tracks. I wanted to create a sound that was electronic, but still organic, that was body and soul, pulse and breath, water and soil, love and joy. I have mixed both organic and electronic sounds. From, the surf of the ocean, to drops of water hitting a stone floor, glasses of water, rain, scuba gear, waves, and oars on the surface of a still lake. And of course my voice. I have looped, sampled, cut and pasted -to create a pulse of water. The backing voices, I tried to create an effect of a blanket you could wrap yourself in, a warm cover of soft voices. I searched for sounds that were not too heavy, but still able to blend in between my voice and the water. I wanted to create a vibe that was experimental, but still beautiful, calm and calming. Water is not only beautiful, but our primary basis for life on earth. |
